Video shows teen with autism pulled off train in New York City and beaten in disturbing attack

A 15-year-old boy with autism was pulled off a train in Manhattan and beaten on the platform by a group of callous strangers who showered him with racial slurs, disturbing the video show.

A disturbing clip posted to Instagram late Monday night shows a young woman in a Chicago Bulls sweatshirt pulling a defenseless teenager from a northbound A train at the 181st Street – Fort Washington Avenue station around 5:30 p.m. Friday and shouts: “Get down! ”

She holds the boy by his shirt, pulls him down a busy platform during rush hour, and yells “Go! Walk!”

A male voice can then be heard shouting the N-word followed by “alert”.

The teenager is shown trying to get back on the train, only to be dragged away by the woman again before someone else punches him in the face – the first of many punches the group inflicts on him, as seen in the clip.

The victim’s glasses are yanked off his face and he lashes out several times to defend himself when someone yells “Fight back!”

The boy was repeatedly punched in the head and face and suffered a cut on his lip, the NYPD 34th Precinct reported on Facebook, when officers posted a photo of the three suspects, who appeared to be teenagers themselves.

According to the NYPD, the victim did not know the assailants, who said the Hate Crimes Task Force was notified because of the anti-black slur used.

No arrests were made.

The boy’s mother, who did not want to be identified due to fears for her safety and that of her son, told WABC that her son did not know who attacked him or why.

“This is the first time it’s hit me – it’s like it hit me right,” she said. “I always see it happening to other people. I have never seen this happen to me in my house.”

The mom said she didn’t see the heartbreaking footage of the attack, telling the publication, “I refuse to watch this video. Nobody wants their child to be abused.”

She knew that her high-functioning autistic son had left their home in Queens that evening, but was shocked to learn that he had made it to Upper Manhattan and was being treated in a hospital.

“Watch them closely,” she said, warning other parents. “Because a lot of trouble could have been avoided if I had.

NYC Transit President Richard Davey condemned the ruthless attack.

“This video is heartbreaking and disturbing, and our hearts go out to the young man who appears to have been needlessly victimized,” Davey said in a statement. “No one should be subjected to this type of hateful harassment while they are traveling with New York City Transit, and the MTA is cooperating fully with the NYPD in investigating the incident.”

The video was posted to an Instagram page titled “The Best of Harlem”.

“I can’t even explain how heartbroken, angry and disgusted I am watching this video,” the poster wrote. “I don’t know what preceded this clip on that train, but it’s very difficult for me to come up with anything that would justify what is happening.”
