Stormy Daniels Meets with New York Attorney’s Office Investigating Trump as Michael Cohen Finalizes Grand Jury Testimony

On Wednesday, porn star Stormy Daniels met with Manhattan prosecutors investigating Donald Trump as their long-running investigation into the former president approaches a possible indictment.

Daniels lawyer Clark Brewster confirms virtual meeting on twitter.

“At the request of the Manhattan District Attorney’s office, Stormy Daniels and I met with prosecutors today. Stormy answered questions and agreed to act as a witness or for further investigation if needed,” Brewster said.

Daniels, adult film writer and actor, continued her own tweet thanking his lawyer for “helping me in our ongoing fight for truth and justice.”

Manhattan District Attorney spokesman Alvin Bragg declined to comment or confirm the meeting.

Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, plays a key role in the hush-up deal that prosecutors are believed to be investigating with a grand jury. Her meeting with prosecutors came as former Trump aide Michael Cohen finished testifying before a group of New Yorkers hearing evidence against the ex-president.

After more than 20 meetings with DA prosecutors over the course of three years, Cohen made his first appearance before a grand jury held on Monday in January. He is believed to be one of the last witnesses prosecutors called in their investigation as it concluded.

Speaking to reporters before and after his testimony, Cohen lashed out at Trump’s lawyer. He said that “every one of the jurors hearing evidence against his former boss asked him a question.

“I am glad that my role is over for now. I complied with all the requirements of the district attorney’s office, ”said Cohen.

Trump’s longtime fixer-turned-enemy served time in federal prison and lost his legal license for paying 2016 silence money and other crimes after serving half his sentence in his Trump Park Avenue apartment. He said the $130,000 payment to Daniels and $150,000 to Playboy model Karen McDougal were intended to buy their silence about alleged sexual dates with Trump. Trump denies any meeting took place.

In his 2018 guilty plea, Cohen said the payments were made at Trump’s direction to influence the outcome of the presidential election.

In 2019, he told lawmakers he borrowed the hush money through a home equity line of credit and transferred it through the LLC. He said that Trump and his real estate business were giving him back monthly payments with interest. According to a book by Eli Konig, a former member of the prosecution team, the feds considered indicting Trump but ultimately decided against it for fear of a political hit.

Asked if he believes he delivered the most detailed account of the close-in deal as early as Wednesday, Cohen said: “I’m sure of it.”

Cohen says Donald Trump wrote checks from his personal bank account after he became president as compensation for payments Cohen made to buy the silence of porn actress Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal ahead of the 2016 presidential election.

Grand jury hearings are confidential, and Manhattan prosecutors have not said what the panel is looking into. Sources connected to the case say the district attorney is considering charging Trump with falsifying business documents – based on how he recorded Cohen’s payment to the IRS – and covering it up to cover up a second offense that is a felony.

This approach has never been considered in court, legal experts previously told Daily News.

On Monday, lawyer Joe Tacopina, who is advising Trump on the investigation, said the former president would not accept an invitation to testify before a grand jury he received last week. Prosecutors are usually courteous when approaching a prosecution decision.

Trump recently called himself a “victim of extortion” in connection with a deal with Daniels to withhold money, a charge she denies. Earlier this week, the former president, who is running for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, said former longtime Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau would be “rolling in his grave” in the Bragg investigation.

The district attorney’s office investigated Trump and his business dealings for three years. In addition to Cohen and Daniels, prosecutors recently summoned longtime Trump aides such as Kellyanne Conway and Hope Hicks for questioning at the downtown district attorney’s offices.

When she testified in an unrelated federal trial of her former lawyer Michael Avenatti last year, Daniels disagreed that her sexual encounter with Trump in 2006 at a Lake Tahoe golf tournament was described as an “affair” .

“Because it wasn’t romantic,” Daniels said. “I don’t think it’s an affair to be cornered when leaving the closet.”
