17-year-old boy shot to death on Brooklyn Street; murder allegedly gang-related

A 17-year-old boy was killed Wednesday in a shootout believed to be linked to a gang on a Brooklyn street, police said.

The young victim exited YaYa Deli at the corner of Saratoga Avenue and Prospect Place in Brownsville around 4:55 pm, where he was met by several youths, police and a witness said.

“There were two shots and he was on the floor,” a man who asked not to be named told Daily News.

According to police sources, the teenager was shot in the torso.

“When they pulled up his shirt, he was hit from the front,” the man recalls. “He was bleeding from his mouth.”

Medics rushed him to the Interfaith Medical Center, but they could not save him.

The teenager, whose name was not immediately disclosed, lived in the block where he was shot.

“He was a good kid,” a family member at the apartment told The News. “He was a scientist and he liked to rap.”

There were no immediate arrests.
