Two men shot dead an hour apart in New York: police

The week began in New York on a bloody note when two men were gunned down within hours of each other in Brooklyn and Queens on Monday morning in Brooklyn and Queens.

Police said a 31-year-old man was shot in the right hand on the 700 block of Pennsylvania Avenue in East New York, Brooklyn, around 8:30 am.

Law enforcement sources said the victim, whose name was not released on Monday, was the alleged target of the shooting, although the motive for the attack was not immediately released.

Police are looking for a male suspect who was last seen wearing an orange construction vest in connection with the shooting.

About two hours later, a 30-year-old man entered Elmhurst Hospital in Queens with a gunshot wound to his left hand. It was registered in stable condition.

Sources said the victim, whose name has not been released, has no criminal record.

Additional details about this shooting were not immediately available.

The number of shooting incidents in the Big Apple as of Feb. 19 is down more than 20% from the same period a year ago, according to the latest NYPD data.
