Tragic story update: 8-month-old baby dies after woman allegedly suffocated her babies in a murder-suicide attempt

The mother-of-three is facing multiple murder charges after she allegedly killed her children and then attempted suicide.

Lindsey Clancy, 32, is believed to have strangled three of her children and then attempted suicide by jumping from the window of her home in Duxbury, Massachusetts, on Tuesday, Fox News reported.

The incident is still under investigation, but reports suggest that Clancy suffered from postpartum depression, a mood disorder associated with childbirth.

Clancy’s friend told radio personality John DePetro that Clancy was attending “a very intense five-day program for PPD trying to get help” and that her husband Patrick was working from home to “try and support her every day.”

On the day of the incident, Patrick left the house for less than half an hour to eat.

According to Fox, police were called to Clancy’s home at 6:11 p.m. by Patrick, who returned home to find his family “unconscious with obvious signs of trauma.”

Two children, 5-year-old Cora and 3-year-old Dawson, died in the hospital.

The youngest child, an 8-month-old boy named Callan, was initially hospitalized in critical condition. However, on Friday, he died from his injuries, according to MassLive.

Lindsey has also been hospitalized and is recovering.

According to MassLive, Clancy will be charged with three counts of strangulation, two counts of murder and three counts of assault and battery with a deadly weapon. The charges were announced prior to the death of the youngest child.

According to Plymouth District Attorney Timothy Cruz, once Clancy recovers, she will “be brought to trial as soon as possible.”

“This is an unimaginable, senseless tragedy, and this is an ongoing investigation.”

The Clancy Extended Family created GoFundMe in support of Patrick. As of Saturday, $560,000 has been raised.

“This GoFundMe is designed to help Pat pay for medical bills, funeral services, and legal assistance. This help is especially needed because Pat will not be able to work for the foreseeable future as he endures this painful, life-changing tragedy,” the fundraiser said.
