Student arrested with loaded gun at Paharo Valley High School

WATSONVILLE, Calif. (KION-TV) — Watsonville police said they were sent to Paharo Valley High School Friday morning due to reports of a possible armed student.

Shortly before 11 am, the school administration called the police about a 17-year-old student. A school resource officer assigned to Watsonville High School arrived a few minutes later and detained the student. A loaded pistol was found in their backpack.

Police said the case is still under investigation. Police added that the school district also sent notices to parents.

The student was arrested and taken to the Santa Cruz juvenile prison.
