Parents furious over shocking video of helpless teen brutally beaten by multiple assailants in school parking lot

The parents of a 14-year-old California teenager are furious after he was the victim of a post-school beating that took place Feb. 1 on the grounds of Patriot High School in Jurupa Valley, east of Los Angeles.

Angel Payan said he was angry that after his son was beaten and trampled, the authorities did not intervene, according to KTLA-TV.

Payan told the Los Angeles Times that his son received no medical attention at school. He also said he was furious that the Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputy, who worked at the school, did not help his son.

The Times notes that until this week, the school had not issued any statement to parents.

“You may have seen reports of an incident that happened after school in the parking lot of Patriot High School last week. We want to assure you that student safety is our highest priority, and we are working with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department to fully investigate this matter,” Jurupa Unified School District said in an email Tuesday.

According to the KTLA, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department released a statement about the beating, which read, in part: “The incident was reported after school hours. As such, there were no School Resource Officers on campus. An investigation is currently underway.”

The Times reported that no one had been arrested as of Tuesday.

Video posted on social mediashows a group of teenagers beating and kicking another boy as he curled up on the ground.

WARNING. The video below shows scenes of violence and may cause concern for some viewers.

“They stomp on his head, my son is lying on the floor in a fetal position,” said Marta Payan, the victim’s mother, according to KTLA.

Do schools need more security?

“I see a couple of students… his cousin is trying to intervene to try to break away and they won’t let him do it. One of them comes up to him with a knife and says that if he comes close, then he will get it, ”she said.

“He is helpless. It’s just heartbreaking because I know the kids, my son, had to go through this without staff or anyone to help while he was trampled on the floor with his feet,” Payan said.

Payan said that the students involved had a falling out with her son over the girlfriend and that he had been threatened on social media.

Angel Payan told KTLA that his son suffered a concussion.

“He had a lot of knots in his head. Knots, blows hit him in the head. His head was like a cranberry. His nose was all broken up,” the teen’s father told the Times.

According to Angel Payan, the victim of the beating returned to school on Tuesday.

“He’s a little scared. He’s a very cool kid,” Payan said, adding, “As long as he’s with someone, he’s not afraid. If he is alone, he will begin to tremble and shake.
