Problem: President Biden’s comment that police officers need to be retrained to not use lethal force.

President Biden’s remarks about training cops to aim for the leg or arm when confronted by a violent criminal simply show how out of touch and ignorant he is (“Divisive Blue Villain Joe Tirade,” Michael Goodwin, Jan. 18).

He is on the left, progressive line that has done so much damage to our anti-crime efforts. He doesn’t care about the lives of police officers or the many victims of violent crime that we face on a daily basis.

He is a figurehead for the extreme left and has no idea about the problems that the people of this country are facing.

The man who could ruin a simple “Happy Birthday” ditty is now babbling about how all cops should be snipers.

See, the good guys’ methods always need to be constantly tested? Instead, let’s talk about that awkward conversation about people’s actions and behavior when they get pulled over by the police.

“Unifier” Biden screwed up his presidency but dares to tell the police how to do their job.

He struts and serves Reverend Al Sharpton, hinting that the police are in too much of a hurry to shoot.

Biden foolishly advises the police, when threatened by an aggressive or deranged person, to aim for the legs, not the heart. As if every cop is a marksman and can’t miss.

He watches too many cop shows. Police officers are taught to de-escalate in life or death situations, but sometimes de-escalation fails and lethal force is used.

Another point: in my 35 years as an NYPD captain, I have never met a single police officer who came to work with the desire to shoot someone. Their lives matter too, Mr. President.

So, good old Joe, after sitting in the library of his Delaware home, using classified documents as a coaster for his hot chocolate, and watching reruns of “T.J. thugs in the hand or foot, rather than the use of lethal force. This man is an absolute imbecile.

Problem: The Judiciary Committee denied Hector LaSalle the position of head of New York’s highest court.

The State Senate Judiciary Committee’s unequivocal rejection of Appeals Chamber Chairman Hector Lasalle for Chief Justice is a worrying sign of a Democratic conference that prioritizes its political ideology over judicial independence and competence (“Governor’s Choice of Chief Justice Rejected by Far Left,” Jan. 19).

Political ideologues took over the process and rejected the appointment of a prominent Latin American judge.

The failure to clear the committee, headed by Senator Brad Hoylman-Segal, is a dark day for Democracy and strongly suggests that the veto-proof legislature will control the agenda of the Albany government for the foreseeable future.

The moderate middle was rejected. Dems’ disturbing message to Latin Americans: “Terrible.”

Governor Hochul’s reward for giving in to her treacherous progressive “friends” in the fields of crime, education, and bail reform was the historic and humiliating defeat of the highly qualified LaSalle, who presided over New York’s highest court.

The fact that LaSalle is a Latin American Democrat with humble roots had nothing to do with the radical left (who like to eat their own).

Where is the outrage of the Latin American leaders who left LaSalle when he was about to make history?
