Crook takes a cell phone from a stranger in a New York City subway station, then hits him with a cane and pushes him down the stairs.

A Good Samaritan was beaten in a bad Manhattan subway station by a stranger who stole his cell phone, hit him with a cane, and then threw him down the stairs.

The assailant approached the 45-year-old victim on an uptown platform at the Cathedral Parkway station at 110 W. Street and Central Park West, claiming he needed to borrow a phone to call his grandmother just before 10 p.m. on January 23. said.

But the fraudster, instead of calling his relative, hit the victim in the face with a cane and disappeared down the steps of the station, chasing the owner of the phone. On Tuesday, police said the burglar stopped to kick the victim, who fell down the stairs as the scammer fled with the phone.

The victim received only minor injuries and refused medical attention.

The scammer fled, and they are still looking for him.

The NYPD released surveillance footage of the suspect, who was wearing a bright red and orange jacket, and asked the public to help identify him and track him down.
