Argument over cigarette sparked fatal stabbing in Manhattan

An argument over a cigarette sparked a fatal stabbing in Manhattan, police said Wednesday.

The attack happened just before 11:10 p.m. Tuesday in front of a parking garage on W. 42nd St. near 9th Ave.

Details were sketchy, but police said it appears the victim and another man argued after one asked the other for a cigarette.

The victim was then stabbed in the upper body and the killer ran off.

The victim, who lived in Brooklyn, was rushed by medics to Bellevue Hospital but could not be saved.
