Woman, 53, fatally struck by SUV driver in Queens

A woman walking down a Queens street was fatally struck by an SUV driver early Tuesday, police said.
The 53-year-old victim was strolling south on 84th St. in Howard Beach when a Nissan Rogue driver slammed into her near 153rd Ave. about 6 a.m., cops said.
Medics rushed the victim to Brookdale University Hospital but she couldn’t be saved. Her name was not immediately released.
The 45-year-old driver was heading north on the two-way street when she struck the woman, cops said. The driver remained at the scene and faced no immediate charges.
