DALLAS. Dallas police have arrested a man in connection with the kidnapping of tamarins from the Dallas Zoo.

According to sources, Davion Dwight Irwin was taken Thursday afternoon from outside the Dallas World Aquarium after Dallas police were told he was at the Aquarium near the animal habitat and checking the mesh enclosures.

Police were looking for Irwin to talk to him after security cameras at the zoo caught him on video near where the monkeys disappeared.

Sources say Irwin was pulled over near the Dallas Aquarium after employees there told police what he was wearing.

He was taken to Dallas Police Headquarters and interrogated.

The WFAA recently reported that monkeys were found in an empty church in Lancaster.

The pastor’s daughter, Tonya Thomas, told WFAA that church members recognized him from the neighborhood and he sometimes attended services at their new church.

Thomas also said there was a series of break-ins at the empty church, which was being renovated to be used as a community center.

She said that when police arrived to investigate previous burglaries, they found birds, cats and other small animals.

Thomas told the WFAA that her father called the police and told them they might want to check the church because they believe the man in the photo was someone who might have also broken into their old church.

Based on this information, the sources said they started searching for Irwin and found him on Thursday afternoon.

He was imprisoned in the Dallas County Jail and charged with animal cruelty.

The police said that when they found the monkeys, they were in a closet and the temperature inside the building was 37 degrees.

Sources tell WFAA that Irwin was spotted by zoo staff before the monkeys were kidnapped in staff-only areas.

They said he was asking questions about a clouded leopard that disappeared about three weeks ago after its cage was cut open. In the end, the leopard was found not far from the cage.

Around the same time, a stabbed vulture was found, and some fish and other items are believed to have been stolen from the zoo.

Police sources told the WFAA that they are considering implicating Irwin in all of the incidents.
