Woman arrested after little daughter wrote school story about mom shooting dad

A Tennessee woman was arrested after her daughter wrote a story in kindergarten class about how her mother shot her father during a house fight.

Kaidra Johnson, 28, was captured by Shelby County sheriff’s deputies on Monday and charged with four counts of reckless endangerment for allegedly firing a gun at their Arlington home while their four children were inside, WREG reports.

Police said they learned about the domestic violence after a school counselor from Donelson Elementary School alerted the state Department of Children’s Welfare to possible violence after a girl wrote a story for the class about a fight between her parents that ended in gunshots.

History paints a vivid picture of the dispute.

“Mother and father quarreled. Mom told him to leave because he smoked too much. The father hit the mother in the eye. Mom said, look what you have done, ”the girl wrote.

“Mom took out a gun from under the bed. I was in the living room and my sisters and brother were in the room. The mother pointed a gun at the father and fired three times. The bullets hit the wall. His mother told him to sleep in her car in the driveway and not come back or she would shoot him again.”

When police arrived at Johnson’s home, they found her locked in her home with her 1-year-old and 4-year-old children inside, police told WREG.

The police forced open the garage door, and the firemen checked the two children, who, after spending an hour and a half alone, appeared to be fine.

The deputies noted several bullet holes in the walls of the living room, bedroom and corridor.

Johnson admitted to shooting her husband at least twice, but told police it only happened after he entered the house without her permission and then punched her and hit her with a vacuum cleaner.

Police said she had cuts and bruises around her right eye.

Johnson said three of her children were on the couch and the fourth was in the bathroom when she fired the gun. Her husband was not hurt.

Two pistols were seized from the house.

Two of her children were placed in custody with their grandmother and two others with their aunt.

Johnson has been released from prison and is due to appear in court on February 23, according to WREG.
