Woke LA DA George Gascon Suspends Attorney General in Hannah Tubbs Trial

An awake Los Angeles County District Attorney, George Gascon, has reportedly removed the chief prosecutor who was prosecuting a transgender woman convicted of molesting a 10-year-old girl.

Tubbs made national headlines last year when she was sentenced to two years in a juvenile correctional facility after pleading guilty to a heinous crime because Gascon failed to file a motion to refer the case to adult court.

Tubbs was 17 when she raped a child in Denny’s bath in Palmdale in 2014.

According to Fox News, she allegedly began to identify as a woman after her arrest.

Sanna was the prosecutor originally assigned to handle the case and argued vehemently that Tubbs should have been tried as an adult, denouncing Gascon for being lenient on the crimes.

Judge Mario Barrera said several times in a January 2022 hearing that he was limited to sentencing Tubbs to two years due to Gascon’s office not filing a request to have her case transferred to adult court.

“You have a brutal sexual predator sentenced to two years in a juvenile detention facility,” Sanna muttered after the hearing.

Later, the DA was forced to admit that the sentence in the child molestation case was too lenient – after Tubbs reportedly bragged about getting off lightly and made nasty comments about the young victim while in custody.

Tubbs’ victim, now an adult, also criticized Gascon last year and said the light sentence was unfair.

“I also heard that my attacker is now using she/they pronouns,” she told Fox News. “I also find it unfair to judge him as a woman, given that he clearly did not act like a woman on January 1, 2014.”

An internal investigation into Sanna was launched last August, according to the LA Times.

The investigation was based on allegations that the deputy district attorney abused the district’s resources, divulged confidential information and made inappropriate public statements, prosecutor Greg Smith told the publication at the time.

It is not clear whether comments he made about the Tubbs case were included in the investigation, but Smith expressed concern that his client was punished for criticizing Gascon.

“My concern is that they might use him as an example to intimidate other district attorneys into not speaking out and making public statements that are negative for Gascon,” Smith told the Times.

Tubbs has since been charged with murder in connection with the 2019 robbery and has been transferred to a men’s prison in Kern County. She is on $1 million bail.

In May 2022, she pleaded not guilty to charges of second-degree murder and robbery.

The two cases are unrelated.
