Two men sentenced to 10 years in prison in Arlington restaurant shooting

Two men will spend 10 years behind bars in federal prison for shooting at a restaurant in Arlington last year.

James Edward Johnson, 34, and Leroy Harold White, 53, pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm.

On July 29, 2022, Johnson and another man got into a fight with White and a security guard at JJ’s Corner Lounge.

During the fight, White fired his Smith & Wesson pistol but missed. In response, Johnson fired the Ruger at a random group that had just entered the business. One person was wounded in the leg.

White then hit Johnson in the head. Johnson spun around, firing at White, hitting him once in his flak jacket and another time in his left arm.

In their plea bargains, both admitted to having previously been convicted of felony offenses that were prohibited from possession of weapons or ammunition.

“Mr. Johnson and Mr. White will now have ten years to think about carrying illegal weapons in Arlington, Texas. Gun crime will always mean hard times,” said ATF Dallas Field Special Agent in Charge Jeffrey K. Boszek II.
