Two left-wing activists charged with attacks on Pro-Life pregnancy centers

Two left-wing activists have been charged with allegedly spray-painting threats at pregnancy resource centers in Florida, according to the Justice Department.

This is the first known indictment since a spate of pro-abortion attacks began in May 2022.

Caleb Freestone, 27, and Amber Smith-Stewart, 23, allegedly used threats of force to intimidate and interfere with reproductive health facility employees in violation of federal law and colluded to prevent these employees from providing services. to the indictment.

A spate of attacks on pro-life groups, maternity resource centers and churches, including multiple firebombings, began in May after the Supreme Court’s decision to strike down Roe v. Wade was leaked to the press, but the FBI and the Justice Department have not confirmed a single arrest or charge in these incidents until this week.

“If abortion is unsafe, then neither [sic] you”, “YOUR TIME IS OUT!!” “We’re coming for you” and “We’re everywhere,” are the spray-painted threats, according to the Justice Department.

The group targeted properties in Winter Haven, Hollywood and Hialeah.

Freestone and Smith-Stewart also allegedly damaged and destroyed the institution’s property in an attempt to prevent the organization from providing reproductive services; this and threats of force are considered potential violations of the FACE Act, the same federal law that has been used to prosecute anti-life protesters accused of obstructing access to abortion clinics.

Freestone was previously charged with disorderly conduct, trespassing and resisting arrest without using violence in connection with a heated debate erupting at the Miami-Dade County School Board meeting on sex education in July 2022, and is associated with left-wing climate activist groups Extinction Rebellion and Whatever it takes, reports WLRN-FM in Miami.

Smith-Stewart’s Facebook page contains numerous advertisements for events and photographs of far-left and police protests.

The defendants face up to 12 years in prison, three years of parole and a fine of up to $350,000.
