Two delivery workers injured near a McDonald’s in the Bronx during a clash with colleagues

On Wednesday, police said two delivery workers were injured in front of a McDonald’s restaurant in the Bronx during a fight with colleagues.

Shots rang out outside a Jerome Avenue fast food joint off East Burnside Avenue in University Heights around 10:25 p.m. Tuesday after the victims, aged 28 and 28, started fighting with two men.

McDonald’s is a gathering place for local delivery workers who deliver food for several app-based services, according to police sources.

Both victims were wounded in the legs. Medics took them to St. Barnabas Hospital, where they are expected to recover.

The two suspects sped off east on scooters, but police caught up with them about a mile from the scene. Oscar Olivenika, 18, and Alejandro Jorge Colón Diogen, 27, were charged with attempted murder, assault and possession of a weapon, police said.

According to police sources, police found two pistols on the arrested couriers. Their indictments in the Bronx Criminal Court were expected on Wednesday.

Seven scooters were parked outside the McDonald’s when police arrived at the scene.
