The feds will prosecute ex-convicts for robbing 13 people at gunpoint in 3 New York boroughs in 2 hours.

Federal authorities said Wednesday that two ex-convicts accused of robbing 13 people at gunpoint across three New York City boroughs during a wild two-hour criminal activity will be prosecuted by federal authorities.

Alvin Velez, 34, and Carlos Perez, 24, were detained Wednesday morning by US marshals and will face Manhattan Federal Court.

Police said it was unlikely the duo would be released on bail, as Perez boasted when he was arrested Tuesday morning.

“In 24 hours I will be released on bail,” Perez vowed as he was put into a police car in handcuffs, according to Fox 5 News.

The duo’s criminal activity began in Queens just before 1 a.m. Tuesday, when they drove up in a white Toyota minivan and robbed two women on Alstin Avenue near 104th Street in Corona, managing to get away with two cell phones and a necklace, police said.

The duo soon showed up at the Woodside Motel on Queens Boulevard. near 65th Street, where they stole cash and a mobile phone from two people, police said.

The scammers then traveled to Brooklyn where they apprehended a man at 11th Street and White Avenue in Greenpoint at 1:45 a.m. before returning to Queens where they apprehended six people at an outdoor dining hall near 72nd Street. , and Broadway to Jackson Heights in about 20 minutes, police said.

Their last two robberies were in Manhattan, where they robbed a worker in a food truck near Washington Square Park at 2:40 a.m. and then snatched a bag of personal belongings from a woman at Seaman Avenue and 204th Street in Inwood at 3: 10 a.m., the police said.

None of the robbery victims were injured.

The police quickly launched a manhunt, and around 4 a.m., cops in an NYPD helicopter spotted the minivan in the Bronx, where it crashed near Cedar Avenue and 179th Street in University Heights. According to police, the gun used in the robbery was found in the glove compartment.

Vélez was arrested at the crash site, and Pérez was captured after police herded him into a building on Sedgwick Avenue a few blocks away.

Investigators believe the duo were robbing anyone they could find on the street for quick money and valuables and were planning to continue their spree in the Bronx when they broke up, police said.

Charges against the men, who are both from Manhattan, are pending.

“Nothing happened. I didn’t do it,” Perez yelled at reporters as police escorted him out of the 110th Precinct in Corona late Tuesday night. “Did you hear? Did you hear? I’m innocent.”

Velez said twice that he was also innocent.

Both men have multiple arrests and were recently arrested on charges of drug possession, police said.

According to the documents, Velez was released on parole in November 2021 after serving seven years in state prison for attempted murder in Manhattan. Prior to that, he was paroled in February 2013 after serving over a year for possession of a weapon, also in Manhattan.

According to the records, Perez was released on parole in October 2020 after serving more than a year on gun possession charges in the Bronx.
