Teenage punk got a nasty surprise after he beat up an MP and resisted arrest: report

He fought the law and… you can guess the rest.

A Florida teenager who over the past few years may have watched too many videos of mobs attacking law enforcement with impunity has learned the hard way that a face-to-face meeting with a sheriff’s deputy doesn’t always go smoothly. according to reports.

And the second teenager received a similar lesson soon after.

The incidents occurred on Saturday, the last night of the Southwest Florida and Lee County Fair on the coast of the Sunshine State Bay, according to WBBH-TV in Fort Myers.

As the fair was due to close at approximately 11:30 p.m., Lee County officials securing the event began to withdraw an unruly “crowd” of fairgoers, the station said.

One of the deputies heard a mention in the crowd that led him to believe in the threat of violence, the TV channel reported, and began to try to get more information.

That’s when it happened: the attacker, who was later identified as a 14-year-old boy, hit the deputy with his fist.

“A man in a black hooded sweatshirt, covering his face, approached him … then hit (the deputy) with a clenched fist on the left side of his face, hitting his ear and face area,” the sworn statement says. Miami Herald. “At this point, (deputy) grabbed the subject and escorted him to the ground (and) informed the subject that he was under arrest for beating a law enforcement officer.”

However, the subject, who was “escorted to the ground” (to put it in the dry language of the law), continued to resist arrest, prompting the deputy to go on a “hands-covered strike,” the Herald reported, citing sworn testimony.

Do you think today’s children respect law enforcement?

“Compliance was achieved, handcuffs were involved, and the use of force was stopped,” the affidavit, quoted by the Herald, said.

(It doesn’t take much imagination to hear the sounds and struggles behind those three words: “Obedience has been achieved.” To say the least, it’s almost poetic.)

However, while this deputy was trying to get an agreement, one of his comrades ran into another teenager who mistakenly thought that a fight with a uniformed policeman was a good way to close the fair.

As it turned out, it was not a fair fight. Another deputy quickly arrived to detain the second youth, who was 17 years old, according to WBBH.

Both teenagers, who reportedly live in Fort Myers, Lee County, were charged with assaulting a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest without violence. The boys’ parents have been notified of the arrests, according to WBBH and the Herald.

Now there is obviously no way of knowing at this point what was going on in the minds of these teenagers to think that hitting the MP was a good idea, or that fighting the MP in the crowd should have ended well. But it is likely that this has something to do with the environment that the left has created across the country in the third decade of the 21st century.

In an atmosphere where attacks on the police serve as social media fodder, where the progressive chant of “protect the police” is a rallying cry that far too many places take seriously (to their sadness), and where law enforcement is routinely humiliated by elected officials, it is no longer likely one might be surprised when such attacks are reported.

However, the militant youth should remember that they were in Florida – a state that is distinguished by petty nonsense when it comes to law and order.

In fact, they were in Lee County, where Sheriff Carmine Mercino fits in with the ranks of outspoken Florida sheriffs who aren’t shy about making sure criminals — and criminal sympathizers — know they’re not welcome.

For now, we only know what was reported about the skirmish at the Lee County Fair, but we can hope it’s a lesson.
