Son faces murder charges for stabbing Queens’ mother to death: police

Police said a Queens man was arrested for stabbing his mother Friday afternoon at the family’s home.

Dennis Cho, 20, has been charged with murder and possession of a weapon after police found his mother, Hyun Suk Cho, 60, face down in a blood-stained bed in a house on 191st Street near Station Road in Auburndale around 14:00.

An ambulance took the suspect’s mother to New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital, but failed to save her.

“His mother was carried out on a stretcher. Her chest was covered in blood, ”a neighbor who identified himself only as Harry told the Daily News. “They did chest compressions, but she didn’t respond.”

According to the neighbor, after a few minutes, the police took Chow out of the house in handcuffs.

Police are investigating after a woman was stabbed at 40-24 191st Street in Auburndale, Queens on Friday, February 24, 2023.

Cho is also accused of beating and strangling his 61-year-old father, who was also found in the house with a cut on his arm and head and neck injuries, police said. The father refused medical attention at the scene.

Police said Cho is also charged with assault and respiratory failure for assaulting his father. His indictment in Queens Criminal Court was expected on Saturday.

Friday’s attack brought a bloody end to an ongoing row between Cho and his parents, police sources said.

On December 24, Cho was arrested for punching his mother in the face and hitting her leg with tweezers during a confrontation a week earlier. According to court documents, he was charged with assault and stalking and was released without bail after a short charge.

Harry said that the police came to the house of a family of three for loud arguments many times. He added that after the last visit of the police to the house on Christmas Eve, the son seemed to have disappeared for a while.

“He’s a little out of his mind. He smoked weed in front of my kids,” he said of his son. “He used to walk backwards up and down the block.”
