Shooter arrested for fatal Bronx shooting

On Tuesday, police said a suspect was arrested for killing a Bronx man last year.

Barony Lewis, 45, was arrested Tuesday for the Oct. 22 murder of 62-year-old Russell Scott Wells, police said.

Lewis fired a pistol at Wells at E. 219th near Barnes Avenue in Williamsbridge around 5:10 am that same day, police said.

They added that the victim was hit in the head due to a drug-related altercation.

Medics rushed the mortally wounded man to the Jacobi Medical Center, but they could not save him.

Lewis was arrested Tuesday and charged with murder, manslaughter and illegal possession of a weapon.

The shooter has arrests in the city dating back to 1999, including for illegal possession of weapons.

His indictment in the Bronx Criminal Court was expected Tuesday night.
