Punks think they have an easy target, but they start running after realizing what a 76-year-old nun’s prayer has done

The two punks thought they would make an easy profit by robbing a Christian community center, but instead experienced the divine inspiration of one nun.

Last Saturday, two would-be thieves allegedly tried to steal copper drainpipes from the rooftop of the Response to Love Center in Buffalo, New York, according to the Buffalo News.

One of the thieves climbed onto the roof with a ladder, while the other remained on the ground to watch. That’s when something unexpected happened.

Sister Mary Jonis Rzadkiewicz, director of the center, woke up early to pray when she heard a noise on the roof and went to see what was going on. “I opened the door and there was a staircase right in front of my doorway,” she told Buffalo News.

She yelled at the thieves to get out, saying, “This is God’s mission.” But she didn’t stop there.

Instead, Sister Jonis decided to take action. She prayed for strength and then knocked over the ladder.

“I threw down the ladder, which was as big as I could, and lo and behold, they ran away.”

The story is all the more ironic because, according to the Buffalo News, there are no copper pipes at the center, as they were stolen years ago and replaced with aluminum.

Sister Jonis said that, despite the quarrel, she was sorry that the thieves chose this path, and continued to pray for them.

“Every day I prayed for these two bandits,” she said.

This amazing story serves two purposes. First, it shows the power of prayer and faith in God.

Sister Jonis is a 76-year-old nun who couldn’t physically stand up to two much younger men. But she prayed for strength and was given the courage and ability to knock over a massive staircase and protect her home from thieves.

Secondly, this story should serve as a lesson to our authorities. Stopping a crime is not always difficult; all you have to do is show the criminals that their actions have consequences.

Leaders in many of our major cities have failed to stem the rise of violent crime across the country, often complaining that resources have been depleted—no doubt in part due to the frantic “protect the police” movement.

But if a 76-year-old unarmed nun was able to stop two would-be thieves, then city officials certainly have the ability to stop crime.

Through the power of prayer, Sister Jonis was able to protect her community center from criminals. Our leaders must learn from this brave woman.
