Parents sue North Texas reproductive center for fertilizing eggs with another man’s sperm

The parents are asking for more than $1 million in help.

TARRANT COUNTY, Texas. Two Texas parents are suing a fertility clinic in Fort Worth that they claim fertilized their mother’s eggs with the wrong man’s sperm.

The complaint, filed Feb. 8 in Tarrant County, said the parents, Camille and Derrick Bryan, saw Dr. Robert Kaufmann at Fort Worth Fertility for fertility services.

In preparation for in vitro fertilization, the complaint details that the couple had eggs collected and sperm collected, and on January 21, 2016, Camille Bryan’s eggs were fertilized at or near a laboratory in Kaufmann’s office.

Two months later, Camille had a successful embryo implantation, and about nine months later she gave birth to a boy, according to the lawsuit.

In October 2018, as the costume added, Camilla underwent a second successful embryo transfer and gave birth to a girl nine months later.

But three years later, in October 2021, Camille underwent a hysterectomy, and DNA results from August 2022 showed that Derrick was not the biological father of any of the children.

The parents are suing on the basis of negligence, alleging that the clinic was negligent in failing to properly fertilize Camille Bryan’s eggs with her husband’s sperm.

“Specifically, Defendants recklessly, negligently or intentionally mishandled sperm and allowed an unknown donor to be used to fertilize Camilla’s eggs,” the lawsuit states.

The lawsuit alleges that such an outcome could not have occurred without negligence and that the clinic’s actions caused the Bryans’ injuries and injuries.

Camilla said that all of her eggs were fertilized at once and then frozen, so both babies were conceived with the wrong sperm.

“These are our children, we love them no matter what,” she added.

The couple are seeking more than $1 million in damages.
