Putnam County crash leaves DeLand motorcyclist in critical condition, according to troopers.

A DeLand resident is currently recovering in the hospital from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Putnam County. The incident took place on Sunday afternoon, according to information obtained from Florida Highway Patrol officers.

Witnesses reportedly observed the 55-year-old man traveling southbound on U.S. 17, north of Vernon Road at an unusually high velocity, shortly before the mishap. At approximately 4:10 p.m., while making his way northbound on U.S. 17, the rider lost control of the motorcycle for unknown reasons. The vehicle overturned onto its left side and continued moving before coming to a halt.

The driver of the motorcycle, whose identity remains undisclosed, was rushed to a local healthcare facility in critical condition. At the time of this report, their medical status has not been updated.
