NYPD looking for teens who ransacked Queens restaurant in viral video

Outrage is present on the menu of a Chinese restaurant in Queens, where a noisy group of masked and hooded teenagers ransacked the dining room, overturning tables and chairs as terrified workers watched.

Damage to Fish Village at College Point included a large broken window that was smashed on Saturday night when looters stormed the business and started trash the place without any warning.

Viral video shows band flipping tables and sending dishes flying even when the diners were eating.

“From the moment they walked in to the moment they left, it was only a minute,” restaurant manager Tony Hu told WCBS-TV. “They didn’t say a word. We have no idea what happened.”

Mobile phone video circulating online shows a group of masked men overturning tables and chairs as they ransack a Chinese restaurant in Queens.

Hu said he had no idea what motivated them.

“I was standing at the checkout and I was shocked,” Hu told the TV channel. “Then I ran to call 911, but by the time I got through, they were gone.”

Hu said the stunt caused over $20,000 worth of damage.

“This is a big financial loss,” Hu said. “Especially our reputation for future customers. Nobody wants to go where these things happen.”

Local leaders said they were outraged by the incident.

“As a community, we need to make sure this kind of hate crime doesn’t happen anymore in our neighborhoods,” Tony Avella, a former city council member, told a GoFundMe launched to raise money to help rebuild the restaurant.

Police said the damage at Fish Village in College Point, Queens included a large smashed window on Saturday when looters broke into the establishment and ransacked the place without any warning.

“We want New York to be better and safer for everyone.”

Police said the NYPD is still looking for suspects and it’s unclear if the vandalism is being investigated as a hate crime.

When the violence broke out, there were about 30 patrons in the restaurant. Officials said there were no casualties.

The incident comes days before Mayor Adams suggested that shoppers take off their masks before entering stores for safety reasons to facilitate identification via CCTV.

The offer comes after a masked gunman killed a Manhattan wine cellar worker last week.
