NYC bouncer, 61, in critical condition after punch

A 61-year-old bouncer was in critical condition Saturday morning after he was punched during a clash outside a Chelsea bar, police said.

The victim was on duty at Billymark’s West Bar on Ninth Ave. near W. 29th St. about 3 a.m. when he got into a fight with the unidentified man, authorities said.

During the fight the bouncer hit the suspect, who in turn socked the victim in the face, cops said.

The bouncer fell back and struck the back of his head head on the pavement, police said.

Bleeding heavily from the head, the bouncer was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he remained in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

The man who attacked him ran off. No arrests have been made.

Cops were scouring the area Saturday looking for surveillance video that could help them identify the assailant.

A folded-up knife was found at the bloody scene, but it was not used during the attack, police said.
