Neighbors beat an armed teenager when he allegedly tried to steal a car. Grandma was on her way to chemo

When a teenager allegedly tried to steal the car of an elderly woman on her way to cancer treatment, neighbors intervened.

A Washington, D.C. woman identified only as “grandmother” was on her way to chemotherapy on Friday when a 15-year-old boy tried to steal her car, according to WJLA-TV.

“He came up and said: “Give me your keys. I have a gun,” the WJLA woman said. “I said, ‘Baby, you’d better shoot me because you’re not taking my car tonight.’

The grandmother screamed for help, and the teenager ran away. But on the run he was stopped by the neighbors, who began to beat the potential hijacker.

“They caught him and I said, ‘Oh, you’re going to jail today,'” she told WJLA.

According to police, the boy left the scene in an ambulance. Grandmother said that now he is being held in prison.

First, we should applaud the courage of the neighbors for stepping in to help when this woman was in danger. They responded quickly to ensure the suspect was brought to justice.

Given that this elderly woman has cancer, her neighbors came to the rescue of one of the most vulnerable members of the community.

Is Democratic politics to blame for the increase in crime?

But there is one more thing to consider here. As we all know by now, crime seems to be out of control, especially in cities like Washington DC.

According to WRC-TV, car thefts in particular have become more frequent in Washington. Some attribute it to the COVID pandemic.

While it is possible that COVID contributed to the increase in crime, the fact is that the lockdowns ended almost two years ago and crime has only worsened since then.

It is more likely that the increase in crime is due to the refusal of the liberals who run the big cities to enforce the law.

Over the past few years, the progressives who run major American cities have adopted crime mitigation policies in the name of “compassion.” Some of them, such as cashless bail, have allowed dangerous criminals to return to the streets where they continue to commit new crimes.

We have to ask ourselves, who is this policy showing compassion for? Of course, they show no compassion for ordinary Americans, who are at increased risk of becoming victims of crime.

All this encourages criminals to commit more crimes, because they seem to get away with it under the current system. This is how we end stories like this one from DC

Not to mention, in a world where police are hindered by left-wing politics, ordinary citizens will be forced to take matters into their own hands to keep their communities safe.

The attempted hijacking of an elderly cancer patient is symptomatic of a much larger problem in this country—the problem of liberal politicians refusing to enforce the law in the name of an awakened ideology.
