Manhattan Cigarette Shop Worker Shot in Leg While Chasing Violent Crowd

Police said on Wednesday that a Hell’s Kitchen smoker worker was shot in the leg as he tried to escort a disobedient crowd out of the store.

The 32-year-old victim was working in Smoke City on Ninth Avenue near W. 49th Street when more than half a dozen men entered the store around 11 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

The shoppers, who were in their 20s and teenagers, began to act rowdy, causing a fight between them and a worker who ordered them to leave.

The officer had just thrown the men out of the store when one of them pulled out a gun and shot him in the upper left leg, police said.

The victim was working in Smoke City on Ninth Avenue near W. 49th Street around 11:00 pm Tuesday night.

Then the crew dispersed, and some fled the territory on motor scooters.

Medics took the smoke workshop worker to Bellevue Hospital, where he was treated for a minor injury.

No arrests were made.
