Man shot dead on Manhattan street

According to police, the man was shot dead on a Manhattan street on Thursday.

The victim was near the intersection of 125th E Street and Lexington Avenue in East Harlem when gunfire erupted around 2:55 p.m., police said.

“He was shot in the chest as he lay there by the elevator,” witness Winston Kingston told the Daily News, referring to the entrance to the subway station at the junction.

Police responding to an emergency call found the victim unconscious and shot him in the chest.

Medics rushed him to Harlem Hospital, but they couldn’t save him.

Police are still identifying the man, who had no ID.

“The cops surrounded his body, so it was hard to see him,” Kingston said. “It’s crazy outside, man.

There were no immediate arrests.
