Man shot dead in Bronx was arguing with teens when he was shot: NYPD

On Friday, police said a man shot dead on a Bronx street on Wednesday night was embroiled in a fight with at least four teenagers before being shot dead.

Isaac Collins was on E. 176th Street near Anthony Avenue in Tremont around 5:30 pm when he was shot several times in the chest.

According to the police, four young people aged 15 to 20, dressed in all black, were running away from the scene. Three men were wearing ski masks.

On Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at approximately 5:21 pm, police responded to calls to shoot at 273 E 176th Street, within the 46th Precinct.  Upon arrival, law enforcement officers noticed a 21-year-old man with gunshot wounds to the torso.  The victim was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he died from his injuries.  There are no arrests, the investigation continues.

Ambulances took 21-year-old Collins to St. Barnabas Hospital but failed to save him. Police said he lived in Longwood about two miles from where he was shot.

One witness recalled hearing four or five shots.

“When I got down, he was lying on the corner by the car, bleeding,” the man said of Collins. “There were all kinds of people standing around doing nothing.”

No arrests were made, police said, as police worked to find the shooter.

“He was a young guy just starting his life,” the witness said. “What a disgrace”.

The NYPD said four suspects who fled the scene were wanted for questioning. They were all of a lean build and are believed to have been between 5 feet 5 and 5 feet 9 inches tall.
