Man got exactly what he asked for after leaving MTG threatening voicemails and forcing her to press charges

As the saying goes, be careful what you wish for. You just might get it.

This is certainly the case of Joseph Francis Morelli, the New Yorker who left threatening voice messages to Georgia Republican Party member Marjorie Taylor Green and dared to press charges.

Not only that, he dared her twice by giving his full name in the messages. And so, he got what he hoped for, and now he faces up to five years in prison.

According to Business Insider, Morelli, 51, pleaded guilty to sending threatening voice messages to court on Wednesday.

The calls were made from Morelli’s home in upstate Endicott, New York in March 2022.

In one of the voice messages, which according to The Hill was made at 11:11 p.m., he said: “I will have to take your life into my own hands … I will hurt you. Physically, I will hurt you.

“I just don’t think I can continue to allow you to incite hatred and poison people,” Morelli said, according to court documents.

“I really think I will have to harm you—physical harm.

Seven minutes later, he called back and said that he was going to “pay someone 500 bucks to take a baseball bat and crush your skull.”

Are you a MTG fan?

On the third call six minutes after What one, he threatened: “I’ll make sure that even if they put me in jail, someone grabs you, because I’ll pay them.”

The verdict will be handed down on June 1, according to a press release from the Ministry of Justice.

Morelli faces up to 5 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, and a supervised release of up to 3 years.

“A defendant’s sentencing is determined by a judge based on the specific law the defendant is accused of violating, the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines, and other factors,” the Justice Department said in a press release.

Of course, if someone is foolish enough to leave their full personal details in a threatening voice message, this should be expected to happen. This does not seem like a particularly attached person, judging by the content of the threatening messages we are involved in.

However, as Green pointed out on Twitter, the FBI doesn’t necessarily act quickly and draconically regarding threats to her life. Morelli is not yet in jail, in stark contrast to how the government treats other “threats to democracy.”

“The man pleaded guilty to planning to kill me or paying someone to do it. Now he is at home, he can do it while waiting for the verdict, ”she wrote.

“But the guy who sat at the Pelosi table is facing 20 years, and the people who entered the Capitol on [January 6] rot in jail until trial.”

“The press keeps asking me about threats against a member of the House of Representatives. [Ilhan] Omar, but none of them knew about this admission of guilt for threatening my life, ”she added.

“Several people who wanted to kill me were arrested, but the DC media does not report this.

“It’s two-tier justice and two-tier lighting.”

Indeed, while the alleged threats against Omar and other members of the so-called “team” are widely reported in the press, the threats against Green have largely gone unnoticed.

Don’t get me wrong: any threat against a politician is not just wrong, it’s a crime. However, it is indicative that the media obsess over threats against one politician and hardly notice the threats against another. You can almost hear them say, “Yeah, but she’s Marjorie Taylor Green, she got it right.”

Perhaps that was what gave Morelli enough confidence to leave his data to the feds.

Unfortunately for him, law enforcement is not as lenient as the media.
