Man, 40, mortally wounded in gang clash in Harlem apartment

Police said Wednesday that a 40-year-old man was fatally shot in a gang clash at an apartment building in Harlem.

Brian Cummings was shot in the torso in an apartment on the first floor of a building on W. 137th St. near Malcolm X. Boulevard around 2 a.m. Tuesday, police said.

Paramedics rushed him to a Harlem hospital, where he died.

According to police, the victim lived about a mile from where he was shot.

Police believe the murder may have been the result of an ongoing feud between street gangs.

The police were combing the area looking for CCTV footage that could help them identify the shooter.
