Harlem man dies after suspected drunk driving at Hudson Yards: NYPD

A suspected drunk driver died in a crash near the Hudson Yards skyscraper Friday night, police said.

Hernan Rivera, 27, was heading east on West 30th Street near 11th Avenue around 10 p.m. Friday when he lost control of his white 2020 Chevrolet Malibu and crashed into a concrete barrier, police said.

Arriving officers found Rivera with multiple injuries. He also turned out to be drunk driving.

An ambulance took him to Bellevue Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Rivera lived in Harlem, about seven miles from where he crashed, police said. According to an NYPD spokesman, he was in custody for drunk driving at the time of his death.

It crashed in front of 606 W. 30th St, one of the tallest buildings currently under construction in New York. The 42-storey building is expected to be completed this year.
