Gunman busted for Harlem Halloween shooting that wounded three bystanders, including autistic child two years ago

A gunman wanted for a Harlem Halloween shooting that wounded three innocent bystanders, including an autistic child trick or treating with her father, more than two years ago, has been arrested, police said Friday.

Terrell Owens, 30, was charged Thursday with attempted murder, assault, reckless endangerment and gun possession after he was arrested earlier in the day in Maine, according to cops.

On Halloween night in 2020, Owens exchanged shots with a man he was arguing with outside Fine Fare supermarket on Malcolm X. Blvd. near W. 116th St., police said.

The image was released of the suspect wanted for a Harlem Halloween shooting that wounded three innocent bystanders more than two years ago.

When police got there they found a 33-year-old woman shot in the right arm. They later learned a 39-year-old man, also shot in the right arm, had flagged down a taxi and rushed to Harlem Hospital with his eight-year-old daughter, who was struck in the right knee.

The father, who asked the Daily News to identify him only by James, his first name, said the shooting permanently scarred his daughter emotionally.

“She is asking me why she got shot, why I couldn’t save her,” James said at the time. “Do you know what that’s like? Why I couldn’t pull her away, asking the police why they couldn’t get him (the shooter) yet.”

He said the gunman he saw “was shooting in a crowd, no regard for human life.”

The father said he most fears the long—term fallout for his wounded daughter, Jamie, who was dressed as an astronaut.

“She’s already autistic but now she’s extremely traumatized,” James said. “She’s asking me why the man shot her. She’s scared. I don’t think she will ever be able to see another gun, or have another Halloween.”

James said he had just finished trick-or-treating with Jamie and her sister, Caige, 6, who was dressed as Elsa from “Frozen.”

The girls were about to cross the street with their dad to meet their mom in a CVS store when shots rang out.

“I just saw him step back and saw him pull his gun out and start blasting,” James said of one of the shooters. “Unfortunately, my daughter and I were in the path of where he was shooting.”

“I saw my daughter stumble and I saw her grab her leg. I started sh–ing bricks,” he added. “Then I saw blood come through her pants and I was so scared . . . I just prayed she wasn’t shot anywhere else. Do you know how sinister that is, to hope your daughter was only shot in the leg and not her body?”

The other gunman is still being sought. Police said Owens has three prior arrests, one for selling drugs and two for fare evasion.
