Freezing rain covered much of North Texas on Tuesday
NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) “Old Man Winter is here as we wrap up January and head into February. Our first days of weather alerts continue until Wednesday.
The winter storm warning continues until Wednesday noon for all of North Texas.
Freezing drizzle and freezing rain continue in North Texas on Monday night, but coverage will increase into our night hours by dawn.
We see another area of rise in the upper atmosphere increasing our coverage, and heavy rain and snow is possible from 4 am to 9 am, moving from the southwest to the northeast across most of the NTX. Wet rain continues into the morning hours and then intermittently throughout the day.
We could see 0.10 to 0.50 inches of additional ice accumulation in some parts of the NTX.
Monday night temperatures are dangerously cold in the mid-to-high 20s. It’s cold when you need to drip any taps so as not to freeze.
We get cold in the middle of the week before we start to thaw at the end of the week. By Friday, high temperatures will be in the mid-50s, and this Sunday will appear “warm” compared to today, with a maximum of 60 degrees in mostly sunny skies.
