Former prisoner dies in drive-by shooting in Manhattan

Police said Thursday that a 44-year-old former inmate was killed in a drive-by shooting in Washington Heights.

The victim was shot in the head and chest by a gunman from a passing dark SUV on Riverside Drive near W. 163rd Street at around 9:55 p.m. Wednesday, police said.

Medics took the victim to Lincoln Hospital, but they could not save him.

The SUV was last seen heading downtown on Riverside Drive. No arrests were made.

Police said the victim had served time in state prison for drugs several times and was paroled in 2019. His name is not immediately revealed.
