Death of Bronx teen who died after confrontation with stepfather ruled homicide

The city’s medical examiner said the death of a Bronx teenager who died after a confrontation with his stepfather was a homicide.

Corday Scott, 15, died of “fatal asphyxia, including neck compression,” a Medical Examiner’s Office spokesman said Friday.

Medics found Kord unconscious at his family’s Westchester Square apartment on Doris Street, just off Lion Avenue in Westchester Square on Monday afternoon.

According to police, Corday and his stepfather were in the apartment when they had an argument that could have escalated into a fight.

Police sources said Corday was pronounced dead at the Jacobi Medical Center and doctors found bruises on his neck and throat.

At the emergency room, the deceased boy’s stepfather told relatives that Corday threw a tantrum when he suddenly stopped breathing and lost consciousness.

According to sources, the doctor who pronounced Korday dead subsequently called the police. Corday’s uncle, Lavell Scott, said police interrogated his stepfather at the hospital.

The police interrogated the stepfather again at the 45th precinct on Tuesday and released him later that day.

As of Friday afternoon, no charges had been filed in the case.

The stepfather was released from state prison less than a month before Corday’s death, after serving 3.5 years for assault in the Bronx. He also served time for attempted robbery, records show.
