D.C. police have arrested teens accused of serial carjacking after they hid in an outdoor freezer.

Police said two teenage carjacking suspects who were trying to escape from US Capitol police after a dramatic car chase took refuge in the freezer of an open-air restaurant on Tuesday.

Sede Hardy and Landrell Jordan, 18, were arrested after police found them hiding in a refrigerator, the department said in a statement. They were charged with car theft, carrying a deadly weapon without a license, and running away.

The arrests ended a wild pursuit that began at 11:45 a.m. in Washington, DC’s East End when a USCP officer spotted a white BMW sedan believed to be linked to a spate of armed car thefts in the neighboring county.

The police, who believed the two drivers of the car were armed and dangerous, tried to stop the traffic, but the teens sped off.

During the chase, the hijackers cut off a police van and then crashed into a police SUV, the department said.

It was then that the police reported that Hardy and Jordan had fled.

The couple allegedly abandoned a stolen car and crashed into an outdoor freezer behind a restaurant on Pennsylvania Avenue, SE.

The officers found the two hiding in the refrigerator and took them into custody. According to police, a pistol and a large-capacity magazine were seized.
