BMW escape in Brooklyn NYPD cop who shot cop found abandoned in Manhattan, officer still fighting for life

The BMW that shot and critically wounded a New York City police officer who was off duty during the botched Facebook Marketplace robbery was found abandoned in Manhattan, police sources said on Monday.

The shooter is still wanted, and the injured policeman is in serious condition at Brookdale University Hospital.

The cop, who joined the NYPD on July 17 and was assigned to the 66th Precinct in Borough Park, traveled with a relative to East New York on Saturday night, carrying $20,000 in cash for a Honda Pilot he had agreed to buy.

But when they got to Ruby Street near Linden Boulevard. According to police sources, the salesman told them to follow him into the alley. The salesman pulled out a gun, sources said, and as the officer went to retrieve his weapon, the swindler fired six rounds.

The duty officer’s relative, brother or brother-in-law, then grabbed the wounded policeman’s gun and returned fire five times, but apparently missed the rogue, the sources said.

One witness, who did not give his name, described the chaos. “They ran between the houses, shooting,” he said. “I heard nine or ten shots. They ran to Dumont[авеню]shooting at each other. It was a shootout.”[Ave}shootingteachotherItwasagunfight”[Ave}shootingateachotherItwasagunfight”

NYPD officers and detectives search for clues as they investigate the after-hours killing of a police officer on Ruby Street in Brooklyn on Saturday, February 4.

The robber drove north on Ruby Street in a BMW and then turned right onto S. Conduit Avenue, sources said. It was unclear if he was the driver.

The officer was taken to Brookdale University Hospital with a gunshot wound to the head.

“We are raising the family in prayer,” Mayor Adams said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Monday morning. “Right now, the family is making their decisions and is still under the care of medical professionals.”
