A 43-year-old woman found dead in her Brooklyn apartment was suffocated and her body was not found for many weeks.

Police said on Thursday that a 43-year-old woman found dead in her Brooklyn apartment had been strangled to death and her body was not found for weeks or even months.

Police said the badly decomposed body of Tamara Graham was found in her Albany Houses apartment on Troy Avenue in Crown Heights around 11:10 am on December 15.

Police officers made the grim discovery after reacting there after someone called 911 about a bad smell.

Graham had been dead for many weeks, police said.

It was not immediately clear whether she was the victim of foul play, but the city medical examiner ruled her death a homicide by strangulation, police said.

No arrests were made.
