A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fatal love triangle shooting at a North Harris County apartment complex.

HOUSTON – A man has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal shooting at an apartment complex in northern Harris County that killed a 42-year-old man last November, Harris County Sheriff’s Office officials said.

James Harvey Todd, 27, has been charged with the murder of Cecil McDaniel, 42, 42. MPs said he was arrested at his home on Thursday without incident.

On November 23, 2022, MPs responded to reports of a shooting in the 100th block of Dominion Park Drive at around 6:50 p.m.

Local residents told deputies that they had heard gunshots. When they got out, HCSO said they found McDaniel in the back of an apartment complex.

McDaniel was found unconscious with multiple gunshot wounds, deputies said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said a love triangle between Todd, McDaniel and another woman was the cause of the shooting.

According to the Harris County Clerk’s Office, Todd was previously charged with making a terrorist threat to a family member, but has since been on bail in July 2022. In 2015, he was also charged with marijuana possession.

Todd will appear in court on Monday.
