14-year-old boy arrested after Bronx MTA bus shot at injured teen

Police said Thursday that a 14-year-old boy was arrested for shooting and injuring an older teenager on a Bronx MTA bus.

The teen was identified and tracked to upstate New York, where police officers took him into custody on Wednesday, police sources said. His name was not released by the NYPD because he is a minor.

A suspect is accused of shooting a 17-year-old boy in the chest during a collision on an overcrowded BX5 bus near Story Avenue and Metcalfe Avenue in Soundview shortly before 6 p.m. Jan. 21.

He was charged with attempted murder, assault, criminal use of a firearm and reckless endangerment.

The injured teenager was taken to Jacobi Medical Center, where he was treated and released. No one else on the bus was hurt.
