Twitter explodes after Don Lemon weighs in as ‘woman considered in her prime’
Twitter is having a field day after CNN’s Don Lemon tried to argue that Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley needs to be careful when discussing whether politicians are in their prime.
During a campaign event on Wednesday, Haley proposed a mandatory intelligence test for politicians over 75.
But Lemon suggested that, according to Google, Hailey, 51, is not in her prime during the “CNN This Morning” segment.
“All this talk about age makes me uncomfortable. I think this is the wrong way,” he began. “She says that people, you know, politicians suddenly stop being in their prime. Nikki Haley is not in his prime right now. Sorry when a woman is considered in her prime [is] at 20, 30 and maybe 40 years old … “
Co-host Poppy Harlow chimed in, “What are you talking about?”
On trend:
Democratic MP calls Clarence Thomas ‘Uncle Tom’ as he opposes statue in his honor
“I don’t think so,” Lemon replied.
Harlow then asked, “Prime for what?”
“It depends. It’s like a premier. If you look it up. If you google when a woman is in her prime, there will be 20s, 30s and 40s,” Lemon said.

Poppy Harlow: “Are you talking about the heyday of childbearing?”

Harlow joked: “Forties! My God, I have another decade.”
She asked her co-host if he was referring to childbearing or “the advantage of being president.”
“Don’t shoot the messenger. I’m just saying what the facts are. Google it. All at home when a woman is in her prime? It says 20, 30 and 40,” he said. “I’m just saying that Nikki Haley needs to be careful when she says that politicians are not in their prime and they should be in their prime when they serve. Because she wouldn’t be in her prime, according to Google or something like that.”
Journalist Charles Thompson tweeted: “All this talk of age makes me uncomfortable.” Probably should have stopped right there. [Don Lemon]but everyone needs an editor.”
