Thomas Dombroski announces run for Lucerne County Council

Dallas resident Thomas Dombrosky announced that he is seeking the Republican nomination for the Lucerne County Council in the May 16 primary.

Dombrosky was the president/owner of a commercial property rental company in Wilkes-Barre for 30 years.

He said his experience as a business owner and administrator will benefit the council, adding that he often comes up with solutions that are not obvious to others.

He holds a BA in Accounting and Information Systems from King’s College.

Dombrosky said he will apply this educational experience to the county’s finances, which is his top priority.

“I want Lucerne County to stay financially strong,” Dombrosky said. “As long as Lucerne County is financially strong, everything else is achievable.”

According to him, the main task is debt.

“Our Standard & Poor’s credit rating has just improved to ‘A’ and should continue to improve as we pay off our debt, which was $466 million in 2010 before self-management and will now be $197 million at the end of 2023.” .

The county is due to pay off its debt in 2030, which would create a projected $20 million surplus this year, he said.

Dombrosky said he would consider a redistricting with each council member representing approximately 29,640 residents. He is also interested in exploring a combination of current at-large representation and distribution by county.

“I am against reducing the number of board members below 11,” he said.

The majority of Lucerne County Council seats will be up for grabs this year – six out of 11.
