The White House asked if Biden would be interviewing federal investigators about classified documents in the garage

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said she was not going to discuss hypotheses when asked if President Biden would be questioned by federal investigators about his handling of classified documents.

Jean-Pierre made the announcement Thursday afternoon during a press briefing after the White House revealed that additional classified documents had been found in the garage of one of Biden’s homes in Delaware.

“First, will federal investigators interrogate the president about how he handles classified documents?” the reporter asked.

“So first, let me just say that I’m just not going to go into hypotheses,” Jean-Pierre said.

White House Special Counsel Richard Sauber said on Thursday that classified notes were found in some additional documents of the Obama-Biden administration.

“Lawyers found a small number of additional records of the Obama-Biden administration with secret notes among personal and political papers. All but one of these documents were found in a warehouse in the garage of the President’s residence in Wilmington,” Sauber wrote. “One document, consisting of one page, was found among the stored materials in the next room.”

He added that no documents were found at Biden’s residence in Wilmington, Delaware.

The first batch of classified documents from the Obama era was discovered in November at the Penn Biden Center in Washington, DC.

On Thursday afternoon, Sauber said in an additional statement that the documents were “lost”.

“As the President said, he takes classified information and materials seriously, and as we said, we have cooperated since we reported to the Archive that a small number of documents were found, and we will continue to cooperate. We cooperated closely. with the Department of Justice throughout the review, and we will continue this collaboration with the Special Adviser. We are confident that a thorough review will show that these documents were lost inadvertently, and the President and his lawyers immediately responded to the discovery of this error. Sauber said.

Sauber’s statement Monday regarding documents found at Biden’s Pennsylvania Center said Biden’s personal attorneys are cooperating with the Justice Department.

“The documents have not been the subject of any previous requests or investigations by the Archives,” Sauber said. “After this discovery, the president’s personal lawyers cooperated with the Archives and Department of Justice in the process of ensuring that any records of the Obama-Biden administration are properly held by the archives.”

Asked by a reporter Thursday about “national security concerns” over the presence of classified documents in a Delaware think tank and garage, National Security Council strategic communications coordinator John Kirby said Biden was taking the matter seriously.

“The President has been talking about how serious he is about dealing with classified documents, and he, as someone who is familiar with the process himself, is doing exactly the right thing, which is immediately transferring them,” Kirby said.

Attorney General Merrick Garland on Thursday appointed a special board to investigate Biden’s handling of classified Obama-era documents.

When asked about the second batch of classified documents found in Biden’s Rehoboth Beach garage, Biden told Fox News’ Peter Doucey that they were locked away.

“Secret documents next to your Corvette? What were you thinking about? Doucey Biden asked.

“I will have the opportunity to talk about all this, God willing, it will be soon, but I said earlier this week – and by the way, my Corvette is in a locked garage. street,” Biden replied.

“So the documents were in a locked garage,” Dusi asked.

“Yeah, just like my Corvette. But as I said earlier this week, people know that I take classified documents and classified material seriously,” Biden said. “I also said that we are fully and fully cooperating with the DOJ review.”
