The Ukrainian Cultural Club of Dallas held a motor rally in protest against the Russian-Ukrainian war

DALLAS (CBSNewsTexas.com) – Over the past year, the local Ukrainian community has held several protests against the Russian-Ukrainian war and fundraising for the victims.

On Friday evening, a multi-city motor rally took place at the Ukrainian Cultural Club of Dallas.

“We are glad that Ukrainians are showing resilience to the whole world,” said Alina Durham. “They are militants and Ukraine will win.”

A year has passed since the Russian invasion of Ukraine and a year since the whole life of Victoria Malysheva was uprooted.

“We fled Ukraine on the day the war began and spent eight months in Poland, and now we have been here for four months,” she said. “Almost everyone is there, except for my husband and son. My father and brother are ambulance drivers on the front lines. They deal with war crimes almost every day, and I know a lot of stories from them.”

She said she thinks about coming home every day.

“Every day I regret not being there… but still I try to help from this place,” she said.

She began sharing her family’s personal experiences with North Texas residents to raise awareness.

“About what war looks like on the front lines,” she said. “I want to believe that China will not support the Russians with weapons and supplies for soldiers, but I don’t know what to believe from them and what to expect.”

At the one-year mark, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke about the importance of maintaining the support of the allies.

“We see that quite recently President Biden was in Kyiv, personally supporting Ukraine in this war,” said Artem Bondar.

He said the rally was a way to explicitly thank the United States for everything it has done to help Ukraine.

More events coming up this weekend including a protest at the Tarrant County Courthouse in Fort Worth on Saturday afternoon.
