The state of Florida is struggling with raids

LEE COUNTY, Florida. The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles is taking tough action in response to traffic accidents in the state.

In the past year alone, 266 people have died in road traffic accidents and more than 1,000 have been seriously injured.

Most of these deaths were pedestrians.

In 2021, Value Penguin conducted a study that showed fatal hits and runs continue to rise.

This number has increased by more than 44% over the past decade.

That’s why the Florida Department of Highway and Motor Vehicle Safety is taking action.

They ensure compliance with the order of stay at the scene.

If the accident involves property damage and you leave the scene, they mark it as a misdemeanor of the second degree.

You can spend up to 60 days in jail and receive a $500 fine.

Leaving the scene of an accident with injuries would be a second or third degree felony.

If the driver is convicted, then his license will be revoked for at least 3 years, and he can be sentenced to imprisonment for up to 5 years.
