Transcarent taps Prescryptive Health for new pharmacy offering

Calif.-based Transcarent, a healthcare platform focused on self-insured employers, announced its partnership with Prescryptive Health, a healthcare technology company and owner of mobile pharmacy services platform MyRx.io.

Transcarent Pharmacy Care, the newly announced pharmacy benefit offering from the startup, selected Prescryptive Health’s prescription intelligence platform to power its offerings.

The partnership will allow Transcarent members to access Prescryptive’s national network of over 60,000 retail, home delivery and specialty pharmacies. Users can also shop for their prescriptions with a digital prescription, compare drug prices, and select a pharmacy to fill their medication or choose home delivery, among other options.

“Filling a prescription should be transparent and seamless. We want our members to have power over their own health experience and be more engaged with their care,” Snezana Mahon, Transcarent’s COO, said in a statement. “By partnering with Prescryptive, Transcarent also gives employers and health systems a valuable tool, a fully transparent and integrated offering, to act in the best interest of their employees and patients.”

THE LARGER TREND

Transcarent emerged from stealth in March 2021, led by Livongo vet Glen Tullman. The company announced it had raised $200 million in Series C funding early this year.

The high cost of medications is a long-standing issue in the U.S. healthcare system, and other companies have pitched their tools as ways to improve the problem.

Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company, a public benefit corporation and online pharmacy, announced a collaboration with Capital Blue Cross to allow Capital members and community organizers to access lower-cost prescription drugs via MCCPDC.

Florida Blue selected Amazon Pharmacy as its sole home delivery provider for commercially insured members. Florida Blue members can log into their existing Amazon account to order medication with free home delivery on common prescription medications.
