The first days of the weather warning will start from tomorrow to Wednesday due to winter weather.
FORT WORTH, TX (CBSDFW.COM) – Happy Sunday! Grab your heavy winter coat as you walk out the door today.
We had high temperatures early this morning and with a strong cold front moving through the area right now, temperatures will drop throughout the day.
We’ll be in the 30s by noon, but a fresh northerly wind will make it feel like the 20s.
There is also a chance of intermittent rain today.
Overnight temperatures will drop to just below freezing, with light drizzle expected in some areas. This can lead to icy conditions on bridges and overpasses. Be careful on the morning road.
Over the next few days, patterns will tend to be colder, pushing the frost line further south, which could also expand the potential impact of travel further south.
Tomorrow afternoon we will see a mixture of rain and freezing rain. Once again, be careful on the roads as there can be slippery spots.
There will be several waves of rain/freezing rain/freezing drizzle this week, with Tuesday and Wednesday mornings being the worst.
We still think the biggest travel impact will be in our Northwest counties, but the potential travel impact in DFW is more likely.
Here’s a look at one of our models, GRAF, which will get colder over the next few days. A purple line indicates a frost line, a light pink line indicates freezing rain, and a green line indicates rain.
Note that pink has become more common and darker in places on Tuesday morning, indicating that more severe freezing rain is likely.
Depending on how far south the frost line runs will determine which areas will experience freezing rain/drizzle or just cold rain. This is a complex forecast that will continue to evolve.
Please plan for extra travel time and be especially careful on bridges and overpasses, which cool down faster.
