Comedian Ricky Smiley has announced that his son Brandon has passed away at the age of 32.

ATLANTA. The son of popular Atlanta radio host Ricky Smiley has died at the age of 32, he confirmed in a Facebook video on Sunday.

Ricky said his son, Brandon Smiley, died unexpectedly on Sunday morning, but did not elaborate on how he passed away. In the three-minute video, Ricky revealed that he was on his way to the airport to fly to Birmingham, Alabama, where he is from.

He asked for prayers for himself, his son’s mother and his entire family.

Ricky is a widely known and popular talk show host, best known for his radio show The Morning Show of Ricky Smiley which is based in Atlanta. According to its website, they are the number one contemporary urban adult radio show in the country.

His son Brandon has worked as a comedian and actor, according to the show’s website. His father tweeted a photo of him performing at The StarDome in 2020.

According to his website, Ricky is also an outstanding comedian. His show runs from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. EST, Monday through Friday, and is broadcast live from their studio on Marietta Street in downtown Atlanta.

Former Los Angeles Lakers great and NBA Hall of Famer Magic Johnson said he and his wife Cookie are praying for his entire family.

The mayor of Birmingham said he was “devastated” to learn of the loss and that it was time to pay back Ricky and his family.

On Sunday afternoon, Ricky Smiley tweeted a photo of himself and his son and asked for prayers.
